Beverly Fabrics & Crafts
Categories: Art Supplies, Fabric Stores
If I am not hemming a pair of pants or re-working a existing dress, I am buying patches, patterns and craft supplies to embellish clothing I already have.
I like to embellish jeans, shoes and blouses.
Many times the selection of sewing notions looks like a whirlwind has gone through the racks. I can never find a 7 inch black metal zipper at this location.
They do have a good selection of sewing patterns. Catch the 50 % off sales for Simplicity, Butterick, Burda and Vogue patterns. The seating area is spacious and many books and catalogs are provided.
I love the seasonal decoration supplies. This store stocks a good variety and different suppliers than the Party Warehouse especially for 4th of July, Saint Patrick's Day , Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Best Treasure is to peruse the fabric selections. The bargain bin for scrap is where I have found some great pieces. One yard of fabric is enough to make a skirt for the average framed female. I love some of the knits and cutting edge aka punk rock fabrics I have scored.
I wish there was a restroom for this location. I also wish they offered sewing classes like in other locations. This is better than Beverly's which is the only other alternative.

Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park
Categories: Landmarks & Historical Buildings, Hiking, Museums, Parks
James W. Marshall discovered gold in 1848 on the South Fork of the American River in the valley the Nisenan Indians knew as Cullumah. This event led to the greatest mass movement of people in the Western Hemisphere and was the spark that ignited the spectacular growth of the West during the ensuing decades. The gold discovery site, located in the still visible tailrace of Sutter's sawmill, in present day Coloma California, is one of the most significant historic sites in the nation.

San Francisco's History is entrenched in the history of Gold discovery.
There are exhibits and historic buildings. You can hike and picnic and learn something all in one boot.
There is so much variety in outdoor activities in California.
I was lucky, at least I was able to park. Others were not so lucky. I stayed in the same spot until Sunday. Anytime I went to get something from my car, I was eyed like I was leaving. They need to landscape a new parking situation.
I pitched a tent with no tarp underneath. I found the camp lots bumpy and over run with potholes. They were also confusing. There are no pathways so I walked through another campsite many times before I was admonished.
I liked the cleanliness and availability of the restrooms and bathing facilities. Many times showers, commodes, and basins are nightmares.
The location of the facilities are along a path and up stairs.
Warning Do Not Drink Beer or Partake in Drinking Games to all hours of the night if you do not want to HIKE to the bathroom to relieve yourself!
There are BBQ pits and picnic tables. The rates and other amenities are excellent. I loved the quiet. I was here with some legal professionals to white water raft down The South Fork of the American River.

When you are an early riser, you can leisurely choose your parking spot. You can then lolly gag and stroll to the trams to take you up the mountain.
Your tram ride when un-crowded affords unobstructed views of the canyon in your ascent.
Viewing the galleries un-rushed and un- fettered is another advantage of early arrival. There is so much to see, it really takes multiple trips.
The garden is fabulous. I loved the Angel's Trumpet planted liberally.
Beautiful views ...no breathtaking views. It is an architectural marvel also.
Bravo!!!

The bed was comfortable and large, the bedding was soft and caressing.
The lobby has a rustic feel to it. There is ample space for groups of friends to meet.
I especially liked the concierge who gave me excellent and very scenic directions to the Getty. I took a non- Freeway route that rocked.
I used the Valet to park my rental, which was okay most of the time. In the Evenings and weekends, the workers are fielding cars for dinner and bar guests, so it gets alittle hectic.
I really liked the location. In the morning, I was able to go to the Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and supermarket across the street.
The neighborhood was very safe to me. I would definitely stay here on my next trip to the City of Angels.

Huge, a bit confusing on how to maneuver the mass of escalators, I found shopping solace in this mall.
I enjoyed shopping in Macy's. I bought some basic Jones New York separates in black.
I like the boutique stores, although I would never buy the expensive wears. There are other Anytown USA Retail stores as tenants here also.
I was busy during the day so I was not able to go to the rooftop of this 8 story shopping mall and see the views of Los Angeles. Next time.
I was geographically restricted, I wanted to use the car for far off trips to the Getty Museum and Nihonmachi.

When I wanted to learn X-C Cross Country Skiing. I came here. If you have ever had an interest in Snow Camping this is the adventure school for you.
We had pre-trip meetings for equipment rental and carpooling organizing. We stayed at the UCSF Cabin in Tahoe. Very Nice.

Since the bar gets very crowded at night and on weekends, since I like the "CHEERS" effect. I like to chat people! I have gone during the day. I had a beer.
I came back a few weeks later and had a fateful later upchucked Irish Coffee en route to a Tattoo. I was listening to the bartenders complain about a regular who is a non tipper. It is a sign of respect if you tip and a big snub if you don't.
I'll have to come back at night and have one or two of those big sweet drinks.

They have so many types of tools for expression.
I bought a kit to make my own Iron-On Embroidery Fabric. The paper craft choices are mind boggling. Paper Products rule.
There is a great selection of Art Stamps and great How-To-Books like :
Generation T 108 ways to transform a T-shirt By Megan Nicolay Workman Publishing New York 2006 ISBN-13: 978-0-7611-3785
The store is not good for patterns but that is OK. They have good sewing notions and patches.
